Club to protect super ugly girls in Japan stirs up controversy

A video called “Dobusu wo Mamoru kai“(A club to protect super ugly girls in Japan) on youtube became a big issue in Japan. This video was created by two college students that they picked “super ugly girls” on the street, and asked for a picture. They even told the girls that they wanted to make a photobook of “super ugly girls.” Then they posted the video on YouTube without the girls’ permission.
In the beginning of the video, the two boys say, “Girls these days got much better due to the development of cosmetics, fashion, and plastic surgery in Japan. As a result, ’super ugly girls’ are in danger of extinction. To protect these girls from extinction, we established this club, and started making a photobook of “’super ugly girls’.”
This video spread all over Japan, and was met with much criticism. The university which they attended found out about it and as a result, they got kicked out from school.
