Ishiguro Atsuki withdraws from AKB48!

Remember we posted about AKB48 research member, Ishiguro Atsuki’s leaked sticker picture with her boyfriend?

Well, Ishiguro Atsuki’s withdrawal from AKB48 was announced on June 22nd and it seems that the scandal was the reason for it.

The AKB48 administration holds “AKB48 research member selection,” which is like a long term audition, and if the research member fails the judgement, they have to leave AKB48.

On the 12th, they held the “AKB48 research member selection”, and Atsuki failed the judgement, although she was 40th place on the AKB48 general elections.  It is said that the reason why she failed was because of her leaked boyfriend sticker picture.

On AKB48’s official site, she posted a comment saying, “Thank you for supporting me, even though it was a very short time.  Now, I’m full of gratitude.”

We don’t know if she’ll stay in the entertainment industry yet, but let’s wish her the best of luck.

You may think the idol rules are too strict, but she is not the first one to withdraw from AKB48 because of a boyfriend scandal.

    Yeahhhh. I think everyone saw this one coming as soon as those boyfriend pics leaked out. I’m sure the company gave her an ultimatum for leaving willingly or not. Idol companies are harsh, but it is in their contracts I guess. Hope she is happy with her boyfriend instead!

    Tsch. Told ya girl. Knew it was coming, it was inevitable. The ‘no boyfriend’ rule is veeerry harsh, especially at an age where girls want to fall in love and such.

    Well hope she still tries to continue in entertainment :)

    wow that really blows i bet they gave her the option of dumping him or staying with the group, as i stated before it was all really innocent and not like that one instant where one of the girls was caught drinking with some guys

    But it’s not unexpected… sadly happens to female idols when they’re caught dating.
    She made senbatsu, and she has to throw that away! :( that sucks. hopefully she can move on with her career.

    Dang…That sucks. The rules are so strict :/ I feel bad for her, but then again, it was a rule and she knew about it… :( Hope she still continues on in the entertainment world though.

    jeesh..that sucks big time! what’s up with idols can’t have boyfriends or girlfriends..i mean can’t they date and still have the career?

    all i can say is that this was to be expected
    because if a rule is broken, then thats that
    yes, the rule is harsh, but its still a rule
    and the members joined knowing that they should follow this
    breaching of a contract or set of rules is subject to termination

    wow, just because she had a boyfriend? I think that’s pretty harsh. But 48 girls in a group is a lot. Maybe she’ll be able to find a brighter path where she could shine a more.

    How do you know that her withdrawal is because of her scandal?
    Of course, the no boyfriend rule is prominent, but these pictures have been out since a LONG time ago.

    they translated a Niikan sports article (hence source) which only mentions her, and cites the sticker photos as a possible reason for withdrawal.

    and I can’t speak for OP, but OP probably didn’t realize that research students aren’t officially part of AKB48.

    UGH sux for her. I kind of expected it though, but still that’s awful. The rule is harsh, but it’s still a rule that you agree to when you sign your name on the contract. I bet she signed it without really knowing what she’d be missing. She looked darn cute with her guy though, so I hope they’re at least happy. Maybe she can go back into the industry later on, she could join another group with less members so she could get more of the spotlight or something. Ganbare!

    i feel bad for her. japan need to stop with the idol restriction. honestly, does she having a boyfriend makes her less talented? srsly, human rights community needs to get on this.
