“Norwegian Wood” + the Beatles = MUST watch!
Upcoming movie “Norwegian Wood” (starring Matsuyama Kenichi and Kikuchi Rinko) which is originally a novel written by Murakami Haruki, has announced that the theme song for this movie will be “Norwegian Wood” by the Beatles.
As you can see, the title of the novel was from the Beatles’ masterpiece. However, the songs by the Beatles are managed by Apple Records, and Apple Records sticks to a principal that they don’t let their songs be used for commercial purposes.
After long negotiation however, the producers of the movie finally received permission, which is extremely rare. The reason why Apple Records gave permission was to show respect to the novel which sold 10,000,000 copies in Japan. It has also been translated into 36 languages.
The movie “Norwegian Wood” will be released in December along with the beautiful song, “Norwegian Wood”, by the Beatles!
