Kawashima Ai holds 8th annual live in memory of her mother

allkpop

Singer/songwriter Kawashima Ai is known for always giving a concert on August 20th in memoriam of her adoptive mother, and this year she decided to hold it at the Tokyo International Forum. Kawashima said, "it ended up being a 5,000 person live event, and it made me tense, but also really excited. Since it was a very important day for me, I worked my hardest."

Kawashima Ai has held the memoriam concerts at Shibuya's CC Lemon Hall for the last seven years since her debut, but this year she decided to upgrade the location to something bigger. Although the singer liked the smaller feel of the Shibuya venue, she was slightly overwhelmed by the amount of people who started attending the lives held there. The move in venues has allowed more fans to attend, but she still wants to keep that intimate feeling.

She also revealed that she will be releasing new songs this December, and of particular note is one with the famous American jazz pianist Joe Sample, called, "I remember."

This was the 8th concert on the anniversary of her adoptive mother's death, and Kawashima said, "this is a turning point, but for the 10th concert and 20th concert I want to go to Budokan." She promised that she would one day hold a concert at Budokan for her mother.

Clips from her live are after the jump.
