Studio Ghibli’s “Mimi wo sumaseba” makes you depressed?

Anime films by Studio Ghibli are broadcasted every once in a while on TV in Japan, and one of the masterpieces “Mimi wo Sumaseba (Whisper of the heart)” was broadcasted in July.
After the broadcast, there was a thread titled “Write your impression after watching Mimi wo sumaseba” on 2 channel (The biggest forum in Japan), and many users posted that they felt depressed. Some comments were, “It makes me want to die.”, “No matter how much I regret, I can never go back to my days of youth.”
“Mimi wo sumaseba” is a youth story about a junior high school couple struggling for their future and love. It seems like many people feel that they wasted their days of youth, and how pure they used to be, which makes people feel depressed.
Although I love the movie, I can totally relate to the comments by viewers, although not as extreme.
For you teenagers out there, make sure to enjoy these years!
