Yes, SNSD is not the top group in Japan, I think AKB has that title under the girl group category.

But if we’ll look at the bigger picture, which is the whole of Asia, I think SNSD/ SNSD fans can present a good argument why Girls Generation is the top girl group in Asia right now. Considering the girls popularity in many Asian countries, SNSD can be considered as the top girl group in Asia.

I don’t think AKB48 is the top group in Asia, but if SNSD can’t sell more than AKB48 in 1 single/album. SNSD will be just a popular group in Asia that don’t sell as much as AKB48 :P

It is a good argument that SNSD is well known is Asian countries especially in South East Asian nations. But are we forgetting “Morning Musume”. I still think theyre the Top Girl Group in Asia.

I pointed out that there is a good argument based on several points on why SNSD is the number one girl group in Asia. Besides, what does it mean to be number one anyway? Number of albums sold? Number of countries where they are popular? Being “number one” is a bit subjective.

Besides, we’re talking about “now” and not “of all time”. Arguing that SNSD is on top right now among Asian girl groups is not conceited since there is a strong basis for that. Again, it’s just an argument though since it’s difficult to agree with one description of what it means to be number one or on top.

Now, as an SNSD fan, why would I think SNSD is the number one/top girl group in Asia at the moment? Well, for one, presently, their popularity is all over East and South East Asia, and I think they are known in other parts of Asia as well. They have achieved some level of popularity and recognition in several Asian countries in terms of their influence, sales, fashion, music, dance, etc.

Of course, Momosu fans also have their reasons to think it’s their idols who are in the top right now BUT hey, even in Japan, I think AKB (basing on sales and public-awareness) is on top right now among the girl groups in Japan.

As for the “original nine” well, Momusu was never known for their exact numbers but more on being bigger than the usual girl groups before.

I started commenting on this number one thing when someone (not you) posted something about SNSD will never be #1. The closest I got into saying that SNSD is number one was my opinion in the last part of my previous comment: “.. would LIKELY be on top.”

Oh well… Besides, it’s not like only Sones are the only one who thinks their idols are the best, it’s natural to think of your idols that way specially when they’re successful in their activities. DBSK, SuJu, AKB, WG fans, one way or the other, in their comments implied that they think their group is the best and/or number one AND there is NOTHING wrong with that.
