Actress Fukatsu Eri (37) successfully bagged the Best Actress award at the 34th Montreal World Film Festival for her role in Sang-il Lee�s, �Akunin�.
Fukatsu Eri is the second Japanese actress to win the said award because in 1983, Tanaka Yuko (55) was also awarded the Best Actress award for her role in �Amagigoe�.� Furthermore, a number of other Japanese stars have won other awards in the said awarding event.� In 2008, Takita Yojiro�s �Okuribito� won the Grand prix des Americas and in 2009, Negishi Kichitaro won the Best Director award for his movie �Viyon no Tsuma�.
Akunin will open in Japanese theaters on September 11 and already had its Canadian premiere last September 5th. Watch the trailer after the jump.
