Japanese netizens acknowledge Kara as natural beauties

Via allkpop.

A recent video of Kara on Youtube is causing quite a commotion. The video reveals the graduation photos of a young Gyuri, Nicole, Hara, Jiyoung, and Seungyeon, and Japanese netizens like what they see so far.

On top of stirring up interest in the girls, the photos also seem to be breaking some stereotypes of Korean entertainers as well. Japanese Youtubers commented, “I thought Korea was a nation of people who had undergone plastic surgery, but after seeing these pictures of Kara, this image has changed for me,” and “They all look exactly the same as they did when they were younger,” as well as “They’re so pretty. I’ve heard that Hara has had plastic surgery, but I guess she was naturally cute.”

In other Kara related news, Kara’s famous “booty dance” is being popularized by a Japanese trainer as a fitness routine.

    sucks for them they aren’t.
at least goo hara admitted it.

  • shiroi97

Japanese are open-minded~ Sorry if it sounded biased :p

  • dorky_bunnii

Ok, seriously… I’m sick and tired of Tokyohive posting K-Pop news. It’s not that I hate K-Pop because I love it. But at the same time… I don’t wanna see K-Pop news on Tokyohive because it’s about TOKYO!!! I mean it’s pretty biased for those to post K-Pop on this site… I mean, Yeah~ K-Pop is the biggest hit right now (that’s why many people are so cocky) but seriously… I’m sick of it!!! You guys should post more news about J-Pop rather than K-Pop because they already have their own site. If I offend anyone, I’m sorry cause it’s my own opinion

  • tweetpandora

At #3 Surely there is so much K-Pop on the site precisely because its about Tokyo and because K-Pop is dominating at the moment, they are reporting on what is going on in Japan, not their fault that Japan is K-pop obsessed. It would be the same for the korean site to report Japanese starts who are active in Korea.

  • Limebrus

Miidori, I think you’ve misunderstood. First of all, Tokyohive is about Japan and not about Tokyo. Secondly, Kara is in Japan now, and so it is perfectly understandable that Kara (and other groups like Big Bang and SNSD) are featured in Tokyohive. And the article is linked to something about Japan as well :)

  • iduncare

miidori honey..its okay because this site is under akp…theres nothing we can do about k-biased here..
u can go to arama lj if u want to know more about j news,,,theres load of j news there..updated everyday

  • dorky_bunnii

    thanks Iducare ^^

  • dorky_bunnii

Limebrus: Sure, they’re activities is in Japan now but it’s really annoying how this site is very biased about stuff… Like I said, I don’t hate them… and I don’t like them… Just speaking the truth

  • Twigges

I LOVE KOREA, JAPAN AND ESPECIALLY KARA!! <3

  • babypanda1

    I already know that though~
But Hara isn’t. She admit that but hey I still like her ^ ^

“I thought Korea was a nation of people who had undergone plastic surgery, but after seeing these pictures of Kara, this image has changed for me,”
This comment is kinda…sad though. :(

Allkpop is already posting news about kpop artists in Japan, so i think maybe Tokyohive shouldn’t post it here and focus more on Japanese entertainment…i would like to learn more about jpop/jrock musicians and actors please!!

  • kensai

#11-We’re focusing on both. It takes minimal effort to cross post between allkpop/TokyoHive, so we are just doing it to inform people who don’t visit both sites.
    -
I assure you it has minimal effect on our coverage of Japanese artists.

  • kensai

#8-We are getting a lot of posts like this whenever we post about Korean artists in Japan, but why? Do you know the meaning of the word “biased”?
    -
How is it biased to cover popular K-pop artists who are popular in Japan? What would you have us do? Ignore them? Is ignoring popular artists in Japan really giving you Japanese popular culture coverage? No.
    -
Just curious, is it “biased” when allkpop covers Younha? Her career started in Japan. Is it “biased” to cover ICONIQ just because her carer originally started in Korea with Sugar? No.
    -
I mean, step back and think a little bit. We cover as wide a scope as we can, and a lot more than other sites, I think. Or at least we try. You shouldn’t be shocked if a site about popular culture covers popular things in Japan, regardless of where they originated from.

  • kensai

#6-Ironic, because Arama also covers Kara and SNSD and Vivian Hsu and other foreign artists in Japan.
    -
Do you think maybe that’s because those artists are well known and popular? Or are you just gonna fall back on the “biased” card? Again, think.

  • mokomira

hey…I know KARA is korean group but since this news is about what JAPAN people said and what’s they’v been doing and experienced there, nothing wrong for tokyohive to post anything here.

PLUS, If there’s a japanese singer news based in Korea, Allkpop will post there too..like Ayumi Hamasaki stuff too. WHAT IS SO WRONG ?

  • NobuMomu

@midori: I understand how you feel (the crapload of kpop artists going to japan is kind of annoying),

but you have to understand that Kara is IN Japan now, singing in JAPANESE, making themselves interesting for J-pop fans and whatnot. Of course tokyohive is going to post about them ;D

lol @ someone’s comment that “Japan is k-pop obsessed” though. Not as if Japan was begging for K-pop artists to debut there lolz.

I’m happy that KARA was praised like that. Even though some of them aren’t naturally beautiful *cough*hara*cough* that was nice :D

  • iduncare

@kensai…yep there are news about KARA or bb or K-POP there but the j news are double there compare in here..n i can say that at arama there is no k biased in their comment..mostly are like “oh i like KARA, but i’m ARASHI’s biggest fan”.something like that..they dont go, “KARA’s suck n j rules the world!!” u know what i mean? most people who go there are whether j fans n “K n J” fans.not just k fans

  • kensai

#17-I really don’t think they release twice the news as us. If you prefer them, that’s fine, but don’t fabricate points.
    -
Also, neither site can really control who visits or comments unless we want to ban everybody which is counterproductive.

  • massuisgod

    so midori..
I guess tokyohive isn’t allowed to make news about osaka or any other places in japan, right? considering this site is about TOKYO.

shut up, lol. This is a japanese news site and they’re in japan making news. Who cares. If you don’t like it, ignore it, and don’t make comments that make you look stupid

  • eki134

i dont care tokyo hive posting about kpop. good luck for kara and welcome to Japan. hope you succes. as long as Kara Fans not bashing my jpop group.

  • Music
