�Norwegian Wood�, starring Matsuyama Kenichi (25), had its opening at the 67th Venice International Film Festival, where it is one of the 24 films vying for the prestigious Golden Lion award. It will open in theatres on December 11 in Japan, and will be also be available to 36 countries.

Fans came pouring in at the Sala Grande screening room, and it is reported that the tickets were all sold out. The cast, namely Matsuyama Kenichi, Kikuchi Rinko (29), and Mizuhara Kiko (19), walked on the red carpet together with the film director, Ahn Hung Tran. Matsuyama was looking hot in a black suit, while the two ladies looked stunning with their gowns. Kikuchi wore Chanel and Mizuhara wore a dress by Valentino. The movie received a 3 minute standing ovation, overwhelming the cast and crew with emotions.

It is not the first time that Matsuyama appeared on a world stage though.He previously starred in the film �Detroit Metal City� which was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2008. �I�d be glad if I will be given a chance to come back here again for a different movie. I will do my best.�, Matsuyama said. He seems determined to become an international actor.

'Norwegian Wood' is based on the novel by author Murakami Haruki which deals with loss and sexuality.
