Cast of “Norwegian Wood” attends premiere, declares film to be “perfect”

On November 23rd, the cast of Murakami Haruki’s “Norwegian Wood” attended the first Japanese premiere for the film at Waseda University. Director Tran Anh Hung as well as actors Matsuyama Kenichi (“NANA“, “Death Note“) a Kikuchi Rinko (Brothers in Bloom“) as well as director Tran Anh Hung, walked the red carpet before heading inside for the screening.

“Norwegian Wood” was originally a bestseller written by one of Japan’s greatest modern novelists, Murakami Haruki. Translated into 36 languages, “Norwegian Wood” is a sensitive work dealing with the themes of loss and sexuality. The film had its debut screening at the “67th Venice International Film Festival” back in September.

Regarding the film, Matsuyama said, “I have no word to describe how great the movie.  It may sound odd if we say this, but it’s a fantastic and perfect movie.”

“Norwegian Wood” is due for release on December 11th in Japan.
