allkpop

On March 3rd, famous fashion brand Gap opened their "GAP FLAGSHIP" store in one of the world's most prominent shopping cities in Tokyo. The store is four stories high and is in the heart of Tokyo's shopping district, Ginza. It is 1,435 square meters full of fashion for men, women, and babies.

Although Gap isn't new to the Japanese consumer, this is their first store in Ginza. With its opening, president John Ermatinger of Gap Japan said, "We needed a new venue, and we needed to become part of the climate/environment here in Ginza with a new flagship," and also added, "Japanese consumers are among the most astute fashion consumers in the world."

This new Gap store is definitely one of a kind amongst all Gap stores in the world, as this is the only one with a blue glass facade of "1969".

Many fashion magazines and celebrities were in attendence, such as Canadian musicianAvril Lavigne, model Izumi Mori, and J-pop group Lead.

Lead's leader,Hiroki, said, "Gap has a lot of various clothes, and you can do different coordinations," expressing his respect for the clothing brand.

The store also gave away 200 pairs of jeans that are a collaboration between the fashion brand and musician Avril Lavigne. To get these jeans, young and old fashionistas lined up overnight, and one fan of Avril said, "I lined up at 6 AM and it was worth waiting."
