Earlier today, CMDB announced the results of their recent survey asking 3,000 residents in the Kanto area regarding their most favorite commercial for the first half of 2011.

The results featured somewhat of a surprise as Softbank and their popular 'White Family' commercials, starring Ueto Aya among others along with their commercials featuring SMAP didn't manage to come out on top after ten semi-annual-consecutive wins. Instead, 'AC Japan' (Advertising Council Japan) took the crown with their public service advertisement.

The reason for such an outcome is evident. After the big earthquake in March, most major companies refrained from airing any commercials for a couple of weeks and that's why viewers were only able see the commercials of 'AC Japan' during the commercial breaks. Many people soon became tired of those repetitive commercials, but apparently many more people liked those spots or at least weren't able to get them out of their mind anymore.

Other commercials that received a huge push in popularity this year were Daihatsu's 'MOVE' spots, featuring Okada Junichi, and the 'Singing Miguel' spots of S.T. Corporation.
