On September 29th, popular idol group AKB48 opened their official Akihabara shop “AKB48 CAFÉ & SHOP AKIHABARA” in Tokyo. Members Shinoda Mariko (25) and Takahashi Minami (20) appeared at the grand opening press conference along with the other members.

Takahashi charmed the audience immediately when she bluntly said, “Please start the AKB conference as I wish to speak with fans.”  Watanabe Mayu (17) raised expectations on the types of menu items available in their cafe, particularly the takeout-only pie daifuku. “It is an original type of sweet, Akihabara’s newest specialty productl,” she said.

Itano Tomomi (20), meanwhile, gave fans a pleasant shock when she revealed that there was a concealed item in the store. She hinted, “Because my fellow members scribbled on things throughout the store, I want to find the sign that says ‘Oshimen.’”

Since the cafe is close to the AKB stage and boasts a limited-time-only menu planned by the members, Shinoda advertised a free service, saying, “Perhaps the person who put the item on the menu will cook it for you.”
