AKB48’s Oshima Yuko to play the heroine in “Yamikin Ushijima-kun” movie

AKB48’s Oshima Yuko has been cast as the heroine for upcoming movie, “Yamikin Ushijima-kun“!

Oshima will play the role of ‘Suzuki Miko’, a freeter (permanent part-timer) who works at a ‘dating cafe’ in order to pay off her mother’s debt. “I felt uneasy about the character, but I was able to pull through by being surrounded by such wonderful actors,” she said.

The movie is based on Manabe Shouhei’s manga of the same title, which has been serialized in the manga magazine “Weekly Big Comic Spirits” since 2004. It has sold a total of over 5 million copies, and won the “56th Shogakukan Manga Award” in 2010.

“Yamikin Ushijima-kun” revolves around ‘Ushijima Kaoru’, the head of the black market lending company called ‘Kaukau Finance’, and the unfortunate lives of people in debt. The movie will depict a wide range of themes from the gap between the rich and poor, the collapse of moral values, and the loss of Japanese values.

Hayashi Kento will play ‘Ogawa Jun’, a greedy man who aims to make a fortune quickly. Meanwhile, Arai Hirofumi will portray the role of ‘Niku Mamushi’. Supporting castmates include Sakimoto HiromiYabe KyosukeOkada Yoshinori, Muro Tsuyoshi, and Kurosawa Asuka.

After reading the script, Oshima expressed, “This story portrays a person who tries to live recklessly and desperately. I think it’s a movie that provides hints for survival, so please come and see it at the theater.

“Yamikin Ushijima-kun” will open in theaters on August 25th.
