Drama Prime Time Report – February 10th~12th

The ratings for the Friday and weekend dramas have stabilized for the most part, with only a few minimum changes here and there, except for NHK’s Sunday taiga drama ‘Taira no Kiyomori‘. It experienced such a crushing defeat that even various news outlets felt it was worth writing about again. ‘Taira no Kiyomori‘ lost viewers everywhere, suffering a decline of 2.7% in the Kanto region and a decline of 3.5% in the Kansai region.

The main reason for the low rating was the ‘Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2012‘ that aired at the same time on Fuji TV, but a taiga drama still has to be quite unappealing to lose that much viewers. Moreover it was supposed to become one of the more exciting of the recent episodes with the appearance of the pirate king and the greatest naval battle scene in the history of taiga dramas. Let’s hope that enough people at least recorded this episode and will tune in again next week.

Saturday drama ‘Risou no Musuko‘ (NTV) also was kept pinned down near the 11% mark for another week after last week’s big drop due to the figure skating championships.

No big changes for the Friday dramas; ‘Renai NEET‘ (TBS) lost a couple of viewers again, while ‘13-sai no Hello Work‘ (TV Asahi) ascended by 0.4% (not much of a roller coaster ride as expected last week).

On Sunday, ‘Unmei no Hito‘ (TBS) and ‘Hayami-san to Yobareru Hi‘ (Fuji TV) have finally reached common ground, much to the frustration of the former and the satisfaction of the latter. ‘Hayami-san to Yobareru Hi‘ also was the only drama over the three days that improved its average rating.

Moreover, ‘Mousou Sousa‘ (TV Asahi) regained some strength again after last week’s sudden setback.
