Drama Prime Time Report – 11/19~11/21

It was another bad start into the new week for all of the prime time dramas.

Various specials caused a viewer shift on Monday and both dramas suffered from heavy losses. ‘Perfect Blue‘ (TBS) lost 2.4% (rating: 6.2%) and ‘PRICELESS‘ (Fuji TV) lost 2.7% (rating: 15.7%), but fortunately the latter just gained a bigger piece of the pie last week and therefore it was able to stay above the 15% threshold.

The variety specials continued on Tuesday, which caused most dramas to lose more viewers, no matter despite the heavy losses last week. ‘Single Mothers‘ (NHK) has lost its fascination and dropped by 1.1% (rating: 6.8%), but at least it’s still more successful than Fuji TV’s biggest disappointment of this season – ‘Going My Home‘, which dropped down to a new personal low rating of 5.9% (minus 0.6%). The 11:00 pm drama ‘Koisuru Hae Onna‘ (NHK) also lost 1.3% this week (rating: 3.2%). Only ‘Osozaki no Himawari‘ (Fuji TV) did well against the specials and gained another 0.4% this Tuesday (rating: 9.3%).

On Wednesday, ‘Aibou season11‘ (TV Asahi) returned after a one-week break and improved itself by 1.0% (rating: 16.4%). This seasons ratings are well within the same range as its 10th season, which won’t earn itself the title of the most successful season, but it shows that the fans of the series seem to acknowledge the new partner. Meanwhile, ‘Tokyo Zenryoku Shoujo‘ (NTV) escaped from the basement and climbed up to an at least mediocre rating of 7.1% (plus 1.7%).

Japan celebrated their ‘Labor Thanksgiving Day’ on Friday, which means that the ratings for Thursday are going to be released together with the weekend ratings on Monday and will be included in the next Drama Prime Time Report.
