Winners of the 2012 “DIME” Trend Awards revealed
On November 12, informational magazine “Dime” (from Shogakukan) held their awards ceremony in Tokyo for their “Shogakukan DIME Trend Winners”. The Dime Trend Award went to the free LINE application from NHN Japan; the app has exceeded 70,000,000 users. The Special Award went to the Tokyo Skytree, while the “Most Talked About” Award went to idol group Momoiro Clover Z; Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters manager Kuriyama Hideki was also given the award.
Additionally, other award winners include the Shin-Tomei Expressway (NEXCO Central Nippon Expressway Company), which opened in April and links Kanagawa prefecture to Aichi prefecture over a stretch of 162 Km; Peach airlines, Japan’s first low cost airline, which opened in March; Smart Consumer Electronics (from Panasonic), which syncs with smartphones; and the iPhone5 (Apple Japan), which sold a record amount of over 5,000,000 phones in the first three days of its release.
For the 25th Dime Awards, 12 items were selected for the three categories of “AV & IT,” “Lifestyle,” and “Leisure/Entertainment”. The grand prize was decided after votes from readers were counted and after discussion among the panel. The list of winners is as follows:
