'Cheap Flight' (NTV Drama Special)

No weekend drama was able to improve its season-average this week, which was also due to the 2013 World Baseball Classics that shifted many viewers towards a single network.

The biggest and almost only improvement compared to the previous week was recorded by ‘Yakou Kanransha‘ (TBS) with a plus of 1.6%. It was also the only drama that at least didn’t lower its own season-average. ‘Karamazov no Kyodai‘ (Fuji TV) also gained a bigger share with a slight positive push of 0.6%.

Other highlights of the weekend were the two drama specials ‘Cheap Flight‘ (NTV) starring Takeuchi Yuko and ‘Unfair: Double Meaning – Yes or No?‘ starring Kitano Kii. Both specials went head-to-head on Friday and the former came out on top with a decent rating of 14.2%. The main ‘Unfair’ movie series – starring Shinohara Ryoko, which was also broadcast this weekend, is still way more popular than the drama special spin-off series with Kitano. Fuji TV aired ‘Unfair 2: The Answer‘ on Saturday and recorded 14.0% while competing against the baseball live broadcast.

Big losses in terms of episode-ratings were experienced by ‘Nobunaga no Chef‘ (TV Asahi) with minus 1.5% and ‘Nakuna, Hara-chan‘ (NTV) with minus 1.7%.

(NTV is the only network that still discloses all of their ratings on a daily base. If anything, the other networks only reveal the ratings for their dramas regularly.)
