International convenience store chain 7-Eleven, owned by Japanese Seven & I Holdings Co., Ltd. has announced their collaboration with popular girl group AKB48.
AKB48's original products will be available in-store at all 7-Elevens in Japan starting on July 7th. AKB48 original products consists of items such as onigiri (rice ball), bread buns, ramen (noodle), and desserts. For this first week in July, "Rice-Ball with Spicy Fried Chicken with Mayo" originated by Team B, and "Melon Bun with Strawberries & Whipped Cream" originated by Team A are available for purchase.
New products will come out every week and here are some of the items currently announced to be released:
7/6/10
"AKB48 White Summer, Salt Ramen"
"7&i Waffle Cone Soda Float"
"Maruha AKB48 Fruits Annin Jelly"
7/8/10
"Matsuna Chirimen Gohan Konbu Rice Ball"
"Melon Bun with Mango & Whipped Cream"
7/15/10
"Temaki Rice Ball with Yakiniku Kalbi"
"Melon Bun with Pineapple & Whipped Cream"
There will be more items, but you must go to the actual stores to check them out.
For a limited time, when you purchase AKB48 original products at 7-Eleven, you will receive a serial number on the receipt where you can enter it on the mobile site to receive limited edition images of AKB48 as background wallpaper for your mobile phone. At all 7-Elevens starting 7/10 through 7/16, AKB48's new song that was only created for 7 Eleven, "Lucky Seven" will be aired in store. This single album's release date is August 18th.
