New attractions at Tokyo Haneda Airport!

allkpop

Tokyos Haneda airport is turning into an otakus mecca! On July 20th, Haneda airport completed constructing a new terminal which will include the so-called Tokyo Pop Town and an Edo-era themed area.

Expect Tokyo Pop Town to have lots of eye candy, as the area is divided into two zones: a 'Cool zone' and a 'Hot zone'. The Cool zone will offer goods from NHK and Studio Ghibli, a shop called TrapeFrape selling character goods, a Japan Culture Store, a fashion store called "Mono", a planetarium-inspired caf, and a science toy shop. The Hot zone boasts a mini-theme park and caf showcasing the worlds most beloved cat, Hello Kitty; this zone will also be home to High Collar Yarokocho, which will sell anime goods. A fast-food burger joint can also be found in the Hot zone.

Yes, we all know that Japan is famous for its pop culture, but its traditional culture is famous as well. Aside from the eye-catching "Tokyo Pop Town", the airport will also have an attraction in the form of an Edo-era themed area. A part of the airport will show a life-size recreation of Edo Komichi, which will feature a number of restaurants as well as shops.

Other attractions built in the new Haneda airport include a Sky Garden and a theatre.

Although Haneda was originally built to handle mainly domestic flights in Japan, it is expected to be a fully-bloomed international airport beginning October 31.
