Which games were the most popular at the TGS?

allkpop

?Are you curious about which games had the longest lines at the Tokyo Game Show?

What I mean by 'longest line' is that youll wait for about six hours just to play a game demo that lasts for only 20 minutes. Since the Tokyo Game Show is the worlds largest gaming event, you can definitely expect a lot of people coming in just to view the games. It's highly unfortunate ifyoure 30 minutes late after the opening, as it means you wont have a chance to play anything there.

To cut the long wait hours for 'Monster Hunter 3', Capcom placed approximately 100 kiosks split between single and multi-player modes. They also planned on distributing tickets in another area, so as to not clog the MH3 booth. Fifteen minutes after the opening of the event, long lines snaked around the MH3 booth and tickets were all gone by 11:00.

Other Capcom games that had long lines were Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 2, whichclosed the line temporarily after 11:00, and tickets for Mega Man Universe sold out an hour after TGS opened.

For the Level-5 booth, Ni no Kuni was the most popular game with 120 plays by 12:00. Inazuma Eleven Strikers had a wait time of 80 minutes both for its vs CPU and two-player mode, and Danbol Senki had 40 minute waits.

Namco Bandai also had a long queue right after the opening. Tales of Graces F and Tales of Graces Radiant Mythology 3 had its line temporarily closed by 11:00. Super Robot Wars L and Gundam Musou 3 had players wait for about 90 minutes, while God Eater Burst and Solatorobo had a 60 minutes wait time each. The idol M@ster 2 tickets were all sold out 40 minutes after the start of the show.

For Sega, the most popular game was Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity, whose tickets sold out by 12:10. Valkyria Chronicles 3 also sourced long lines, as it already had a 2.5 hour waiting line right after the start of the event. Other games that also had long lines were Vanquish PS3, Vanquish Xbox 360, Virtual On Force, K-On, Shiren the Wanderer 5, and F1 2010.

So you think you're a fan of Square Enix games? Players who aimed at trying Square Enixs games arrived really early to the event, and some even slept around the TGS vicinity just so they could beat the queue. For this booth, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy tickets were all gone by 10:37, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Final Mix were sold out by 10:26, The 3rd Birthday had 3-hour wait, while the Tactics Ogre commanded a 1 hour wait at 10:40 which increased to 2-hours afterwards.

It was reported that the only playable games at the Square Enixs booth were SaGa 3 and Lord of Arcana which still had 40 to 60 minute waits.

D3 Publishers top games were Dream Club Zero and Dream Club Portable with a 30-minute waiting line after the show.

For Microsoft, Kinect appeared to be quite popular and Microsoft installed four demo stations in its booth. A player was able to select two demos to test at each kiosk, the titles being Adventure, Sports, Crossboard 7, Sonic Free Riders and New Brain Training. By 11:00, the wait line for these stations reached a 200 minute mark.

PC games were not that popular at the TGS this year, but Gamanias PC games also had long lines. Among the games that had queues were Langrisser Schwarz, Tiara Concerto, Divinia, Reign of Assassins, Warrior of Dragon, Soul Captor and Hero.

With this kind of lines, we can expect that people were only able to try 3 or 4 games for the entire day. However, we can also assume that they really enjoyed this event.
