Convenience store chain, LAWSON, has been holding a campaign called "K-ON! Fair," which started on October 19th. This campaign is that if you buy abeverage, "Gogo no Koucha (afternoon tea)", you can apply to win the "K-ON!" (popular anime) original goods, such as character figures, T-shirts,guitars, and so on. The campaign was held on their special sites for both PCs and cell phones, and it reached more than 1 million views in one day. Due to the immense popularity of the campaign and "K-ON!", the server crashed. According to J-CAST, it is more popular than when they held a campaign for "Neon Genesis Evangelion."
Moreover, the beverage, "Gogo no Koucha" is now sold out at many LAWSON stores. Somefans have been going all out, posting photos of hundreds of bottles of "Gogo no Koucha", which they bought just to win the campaign.
A winner of the original figure has already posted it on the "Yahoo! auction", and it is currently going for ?52,000 (~$640USD), even though the figure will be sent out in March 2011.
Anyway, the "K-ON! Fair" campaign will continue until November 29th - good luck to those of you in Japan!
