The7th Toho Cinderella Audition has come to an end today, with the young 10-year-old 5th grader Kamishiraishi Moka winning over the rest of the contestants in a tough competition.
This time around marked the most popular audition ever, with a total 44,120 young girls applying with the dream of becoming the next big actress at Toho Entertainment, the in-house talent agency of major film distributor Toho.
Original Cinderella winnerSawaguchi Yasuko, winner of the audition back in 2000,Nagasawa Masami (also owner of a special judges award), andMizuno Maki cameto the finals and congratulated the young Moka.
Her older sister, Kamishiraishi Mone (12), won an award as well - the special judges award.
Moka is only 1.46m (4.8 feet) tall, but her big eyes and exotic features impressed all of the judges. From the moment the host called her name as the winner, she was left in a daze, but she got back her bright smile as soon as her idols Mizuno and Nagasawa gave her the tiara, red mantle, bouquet and glass shoe.
She said, "It's like a dream. I'm so happy, I don't know what to say." A short moment later, she added, "I want to become an actress like Mizuno and Nagasawa who are able to move other people's hearts."
The other girls that have received a special judges award, in addition to Moka's sister, are Hayashi Narumi (14), Matsushima Junna (13), and Yamazaki Hirona (16).
Additionally, for the first time this year, Toho also gave out a prize called the "New Generation Award". Ogawa Ryo (10) and Hamabe Minami (10) both had the honor of being the first girls awarded with that prize.
