The "2011 Elan D'or Award" is an award given to the most active and most promising new actors in the industry.
As usual there have been 6 winners in the main category, "Rookie of the Year", including the actors Mukai Osamu, Kiritani Kenta and Sato Takeru as well as the actresses Matsushita Nao, Kichise Michiko and Mitsushima Hikari.
Especially happy were Mukai and Matsushita to receive the award together, as they have been the ones that sweetened our mornings in the morning drama "Gegege no Nyobo". In fact, the whole team of the drama has actually won a special award for their fabulous work.
Matsushita said, "I'm really glad that we as a team are able to participate in an award ceremony."
Mukai was happy as well and commented, "Up until now I have never had luck with awards. Now that I have received such a great award, I'd like to brace myself again and devote myself to work even further."
The "TV Taro Award", that honors the best film of the year, went to the much acclaimed "Kokuhaku" whereas "Ryomaden" won in the drama category and received the "TV Guide Award".
A special award has been given to actress Terajima Shinobu who won a "Silver Bear" for "Best Actress" at the "60th Berlin International Film Festival" last year.
Producers that were honored with awards are Ishida Yuuji (Kokuhaku), Suzuki Yutaka (Kokuhaku) and Suzuki Kei (Ryomaden).
Producer Kawamura Genki, who worked on "Kokuhaku" and "Akunin", and Hashimoto Fumi, who produced the drama "Freeter" also received an encouragement award.
