AKB48's Kikuchi Ayaka and gravure model Saaya to star in upcoming movie
Despite currently participating in AKB48 sub-unit Watarirouka Hashiritai 7, Team K member Kikuchi Sayaka has been confirmed for a lead role in the upcoming movie, "Merry-san no Denwa"!
Kikuchi decided to tackle her second work after playing a twenty-three year old in her first movie, "Batsu Game", despite being only sixteen at the time. This time around, however, the AKB48 member will be sharing the lead part with Irie Saaya, a generously-proportioned gravure model who made her skimpily-clad debut at just eleven years old.
"Merry-san no Denwa" is based off an urban legend of the same name, in which an old doll named Merry calls its owner after being thrown away during a move. With each phone call, the angry doll comes closer and closer to the owner's new home, eventually standing right next to her. The ending is left up to the teller, usually resulting in the brutal death of the girl who threw away Merry. Although some slight changes have been made to the plot for its movie release, the basic story will be the same.
In the movie, Kikuchi and Saaya will portray two rivals on a high school karate club. The club attends a special training camp in the mountains, where the staff members begin to disappear one by one. As the two main characters search for the reason behind the mysterious disappearances, they uncover a mystery that happened thirty years prior to the strange events. The movie will be of the horror genre and promises to challenge the limits of the characters' fears.
The movie will make its debut at a series of late-night showings beginning February 12th at Ikebukuro's Cinema Rosa theater.
