It's been announced that AKB48 will hold "AKB48 22nd single senbatsu general election," which�will be the 3rd election to be held. �Maeda Atsuko came out on top of the 1st general election in 2009, and Ohshima Yuko was the top selection of the 2nd general election in 2010.
They also announced that AKB48 will release their 21st maxi-single (title unknown as of yet) on May 25th, and they will donate a part of earnings of this single and their upcoming album "Koko ni Ita Koto" for earthquake relief.
Further details on the 3rd general election and their 22nd single will be announced later.
