Kuriyama Chiaki's secret to shining is having an "adventurous spirit"

allkpop

Kuriyama Chiaki has come a long way since her acting days in Quentin Tarintino's "Kill Bill, Volume 1" and Japanese film, "Battle Royale". The actress turned singer released three singles, in which all were produced by some of Japan's most famous producers/musicians, plus her very first album, "CIRCUS" on March 16th.

But, just what does this model, actress and now singer like to do on her free days? Kuriyama says she likes to relax and drink. Among her favorites are sake, shochu, plum wine, and wine, but among them all, shochu is her #1. She also admits to being a heavy drinker, saying that she drinks shochu 4-5 days out of the week, but that it also depends on what she's eating. "The last time I was out having a meal, there was 3 of us, 1 isn't really a drinker, but me and the other person drank about 11-12 glasses. I'm looking forward to my next day off, I can drink more," said Kuriyama.

Kuriyama believes it's not only fun to drink but can be 'healing' as well. When she drinks with someone it's fun, but when she drinks alone, it helps her think, and by simply doing nothing, relaxes (heals) her.

When she has several days off she often stays indoors playing video games. Right now she's playing "Monster Hunter". Kuriyama really likes "subculture," so she likes anime and video games.

If Kuriyama could describe herself, it would be "nervous" and "to freak out". She explains that when she entered the modeling agency at the age of 5, she would often get really nervous at her jobs. During elementary school she had an interest in neurological gastric catarrh because her stomach is very sensative, so when she would get nervous she would feel it in her stomach and then if she ate too much oil, she would get sick.

When it comes to her school days, Kuriyama felt she had a sense of responsibility when it came to work even though there were times it conflicted with school. So as far as work is concerned, it is "her way of life".

Lastly, this is a secret she will keep on doing into her 60s and 70s. Kuriyama thinks that when meeting a person, it's exciting and that she can get absorbed into conversations. "I think as we get older, our choices flow more to being 'safe' on some level," and that if she meets people who are not "aventurous spirits", well she kind of just forgets about them and just keeps going. Kuriyama doesn't worry about materialistic things like clothes to 'be seen'. She thinks it's important to meet people [like that and] 'outside' of the 'box', it's what makes life 'spicy'.
