The beach stage of the '3rd Okinawa International Film Festival' held a live event called"Yell, laugh & peace SP live", which invited many Okinawan artists to perform. THE BOOM's Miyazawa Kazufumi was one of the many artist-guests that night, and he performed "Shima Uta" specifically for the victims of the Great Tohoku earthquake. "Shima Uta" was first released back in 1993, and it became one of THE BOOM's masterpieces.
Miyazawa said, "I kept singing by myself at home after the earthquake, since I could not feel like singing on the stage. 'Shima Uta' is the song of Okinawa's sorrow, but tonight, I will sing this with my thoughts for the people in eastern Japan."
When Miyazawa started singing, the crowd began singing with him, and in the end, it swelled into a great chorus of heartfelt music.
