In the latest issue of Weekly Young Magazine (Kodansha), it was announced that Furuya Minoru's popular manga "Himizu" would get a live-action adaptation, and is scheduled to be released in 2012.
"Himizu" was the serial manga in Weekly Young Magazine during 2001 ~ 2003, and although Furuya is known for his gag manga, such as "Ike! Ina-chu Takkyuubu", "Himizu" is a very serious and dark story.
As the director of the live-action version, Sono Shion, who is a well known filmmaker, has been chosen. Sono said in the magazine that he loves "Himizu", as he re-read it many times, and he also commented, "I'm honored to make the live-action movie of 'Himizu', and it's a big challenge at the same time."
At this moment, the cast members for the movie have not been revealed.
