Konishi Yasuharu, former member of the now inactive unit PIZZICATO FIVE, has revealed that he will begin his own new project under the name of PIZZICATO ONE!

Konishi will release his first solo album, "11 no Totemo Kanashii Uta", on May 25th, and all of the songs included on the album are English covers and feature artists from all over the world.

An announcement on the official website for his new project reads, "Today, the day that the band who made me who I am, PIZZICATO FIVE, disbanded exactly ten years ago. Because there are people (in Japan) who loved my former band and its music... and in places around the world, the least I can do now is make work such as this."

As the leader of PIZZICATO FIVE, Konishi was an icon during the Shibuya-kei music movement, and a major contributor to its success in the 90s. The band dissolved in 2001 after performing for sixteen years together, making Konishi the only member to be with the band from its creation in 1984 until their break-up.
