In China this month, the movie �Daikaigyu Batoru Urutora Ginga Densetsu� (�Huge Monster Ultra Battle of Galactic Legend�) premiered and it became an instant hit, recording historic domestic numbers.

In the first week of its opening, the movie was seen by 14,200,000 people, grossing 1,704,000,000 yen, debuting at fourth in the weekly ranking. This news was also reported to media by the movie producer Okabe Junya on his Twitter.

Although the �Ultraman� series has been very popular in China, this is the first movie version of the series. For a Japanese made movie, this show surpassed the previous record, as it premiered in over 1000 theaters. From May 9th through 15th, it grossed nearly 1, 704, 000,000 yen. According to representative of Tsuburaya Production, this figure is the largest grossing Japanese movie ever in China.

Okabe, who served as producer, screenwriter, and visual supervisor for this movie, tweeted, �Historic opening for Japanese movie, big hit in China! I�m so glad I served as producer, screenwriter, and did special effects�. And added, �In my mind, the next galactic legend will be land battles on the earth with a strong self defense force team personnel wearing reinforced suits.�

This comment suggested that the plan for a sequel is in the works, but since Okabe has left Tsuburaya Production earlier, he is denying any plan for the sequel. But he added to the fans, �Including the special effects, it was within the estimated budget, so in the near future, please watch as the realization of this miracle might come true.�

Along with actors Tsuruno Takeshi, Igarashi Shunji, and Sugiura Taiyo appearing as the familiar Ultra Warriors, the voice of Ultra King was performed by former Prime Minister Koizumi Junichiro.
