Aiba Masaki to be narrator for upcoming nature documentary

allkpop

On June 28th, it was announced that Arashis Aiba Masaki will be the narrator for the first Japanese nature documentary that uses Japan as the film setting.

The documentary - titled Nippon Rettou: Ikimonotachi no Monogatari (The Japanese Archipelago: A Story on the Inhabitants) - will focus on the beautiful seasonal setting of Japan and the family love that is shared amongst the animals that live there.

This particular nature documentary is the work of the top twenty camera men in Japan and will feature over thirty different types of animals, including a tear-inducing scene of a mother monkey confronting her own childs death. The film features footage from twenty prefectures around the country, including World Heritage sites such as Kagoshima, Yakushima Island, and the Bonin Islands. This two and a half year production began filming back in July 2009 and has already accumulated over five hundred hours worth of footage.

Aiba, a well-known animal lover and a regular participant on Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen, visited Yakushima Island back in May. When I see a family of animals, I am always reminded on the importance of communication, he said about his latest challenge.

The documentary is scheduled to air next spring.
