Today it was revealed that "Second Virgin", the bold NHK drama about adultery that aired last fall, starring Suzuki Kyoka, Fukada Kyoko, and Hasegawa Hiroki, is going to get a movie sequel with the same cast.
In the drama, the story ended with Suzuki Kou (Hasegawa) dying from a fatal gunshot wound, after he got shot in front of the eyes of Nakamura Rui (Suzuki) by the Chinese mafia in Singapore. In the movie, the viewers will get to see untold stories that happened before and after the said incident.
The drama started out with low ratings of 5.5%, but with the final episode it reached satisfiable 11.5%. With the upcoming movie, NHK hopes to please the countless of viewers that asked the station to see more of this intriguing love story after the broadcast of the final episode.
The writer and the director of the drama will both work on the movie version as well, and distributor Shochiku plans to open it in theaters on September 23rd.
