On August 10th, talent Kamiji Yusuke (32) held a sales event for his photobook �KY� in Yokohama. Unfortunately, several fans suffered from a heatstroke at the event and were rushed to the hospital.

Around 2:50pm, 119 (emergency telephone number in Japan) was dialed and 20 ambulances and fire engines were sent to the scene. According to the Yokohama Fire Department, 36 women from their teens to 40s had to be taken to the hospital. Among them, seven people were required to stay in the hospital while the remaining 29 people suffered from minor injuries.

The event was a high five event for those who purchased Kamiji�s book and according to the staff around 1,000 people were expected to attend, but more than 3,000 people showed up. Many of them, including 500 people who waited all night, had to spend hours outside where they were directly in the sun with no shade. On this day, Yokohama�s temperature was at its peak from 2 to 3 in the afternoon, at 33.3 degrees Celsius (~92 degrees Fahrenheit). After the event started at 1 pm, the organizers stated that they would stop after the first 1,500 people and announced at 1:30 pm that they would have another event for the remaining 1,500 people. However, due to people suffering from heatstroke, they wrapped up the 2nd event at 3pm.

On the evening of the 10th, Kamiji wrote in his blog, �I feel extremely sorry. What the hell am I doing? I�m sorry�. The organizers, Wani Books, commented on behalf of themselves and Kamiji�s agency, �We�re sorry for causing trouble and sincerely apologize to those whose health we have jeopardized�.

On this day there was a nationwide heat wave. At 8pm, it was reported that a total of 859 people throughout Japan were sent to the hospital with symptoms of heatstroke. Two people have died and three people are unconscious in critical condition.
