On August 21st, actor Miyake Yuji (60) announced that he will be going on hiatus for the rest of the year. This will serve as a recuperation period, as he plans to devote himself to recovering from a herniated disc surgery.
According to his agency, Miyake underwent a successful surgery on July 30th, but because he's been straining himself with work, the paralysis in his leg has remained. To focus on rehabilitation sessions, he will cancel all media appearances and stage performances for the remainder of the year. Meanwhile, the TV programs that have already finished recording will air as scheduled.
