It's been revealed that singer-songwriter�Shiina Ringo will be providing the theme song for NHK's morning drama titled, "Carnation", this fall.

Shiina's new song of the same title will be her first solo work since the release of her 4th album, "Sanmon Gossip", two years ago. It is scheduled to be released as a new single this fall.

Written by�Watanabe Aya, the drama�"Carnation" is a biography of the drastic events in the life of�Koshino Ayako, the mother of fashion designer sisters�Hiroko, Junko and Michiko Koshino. The cast includes Ono Machiko, Kobayashi Kaoru, Asou Yumi, Takaraida Akira, Kuriyama Chiaki, and Hamada Mari.

After reading the script Shiina said, "I received life, and felt the sadness and happiness that is present among those who are revived." She continued, "I hope the song will blend in with the drama. Also, I hope the song will gently touch the viewers."

"Carnation" will air from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM starting October 3rd.
