Back in July, we reported that TBS's popular drama "SPEC" (which starred Toda Erika and Kase Ryo) would get a movie adaptation temporarily titled, "SPEC ~Ten". While we knew that Toda and Kase would reclaim their roles, it's been announced that they'll be joined by actress Kuriyama Chiaki!
Kuriyama will be playing the role of 'Aokie Satoko', an officer of the Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office. She used to belong to the Special Investigations Team, which was led by Kase's character 'Sebumi Takeru' in the past. Kuriyama's character also returned to Japan from abroad, and is a single mother.
Kuriyama commented, "Everyone who starred in the drama series had very strong personalities, so I was looking forward to seeing what type of role I would be playing. I was nervous for the shoot since I'm a newbie."
The director of the movie, Tsutsumi Yukihiko, revealed that Kuriyama was tackling a very unique character. He described, "She is not good at speaking Japanese since she is a returnee," which led Kuriyama to confess, "It's difficult to speak the language incorrectly on purpose."
As reportedearlier, its special drama "SPEC ~Sho" (temporary title) will also be aired before the release of the movie, and the movie itself is scheduled to hit theatres in spring of 2012.
