It's been revealed that Saito Takao's popular manga, "Golgo 13", is in the works for a live-action movie adaptation in America.
"Golgo 13" has been serialized in the manga magazine, "Big Comic", since October 1968 by Leed Publishing Co. It portrays the story of 'Golgo 13', a professional sniper whose age, nationality, and career is wrapped in a mystery.
Recently,�Leed Publishing Co.� finalized an option contract with Davis Films for the movie adaptation.�Davis Films is an independent production company that's been involved in film adaptations of many Japanese works, such as "Silent Hill" and "Resident Evil". Their most recent projects include "Resident Evil IV: Afterlife" and director Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus".
Producer Samuel Hadida commented, "It's almost hard to believe. We are worked up with the opportunity to bring this brilliant piece to the big screen. For a long time, I've respected Saito Takao as one of the greatest gekiga artist. We are excited to bring his style and great character to the worldwide audience."
