TV Asahi has announced that a popular variety show 'London Hearts' which is hosted by a comedian duo London Boots Ichi-go Ni-go, will begin distributing online in Korea starting on November 1st.
The viewers in Korea will be able to watch the show a couple of hours after it's aired in Japan. Korean viewerswill be charged 1000 won (approximately USD 0.87) per view. This will be the first time a Japanese TV station will distribute their variety programs regularlyin Korea as a paid service.
In Korea, some Japanese variety shows are popular among young people, however, many of them are distributed through unauthorized sites on the internet due to terrestrial broadcasting regulations. Therefore, TV Asahi has decided to start distributingtheir shows (mainly variety programs) regularly on a new video distribution site, "Funny Japan. tv", and the shows will have Korean subtitles.
Also, it was announced that they will have a "London Hearts Fan Meeting" in Korea on October 30th to commemorate the distribution. Although London Boots Ichi-go Ni-go will only attend the event via internet, there will be some comedians from Yoshimoto Kogyo as well as a big-name Korean comedian at the event.
