Actress Eikura Nana was clearly surprised, when actor Okada Masaki suddenly pulled out a Christmas present for her at a PR event for their movie "Antoki no Inochi" ("Life Back Then") on November 10th.

"Antoki no Inochi" portrays a story of Nagashima Kyohei (Okada) and Kubota Yuki (Eikura), two individuals with a complicated past who slowly establish an emotional bond with each other. It's an exceptional story that earned it the Innovation Award at the "35th Montreal World Film Festival".

The PR event was also a special ceremony to celebrate the creation of a 'love-letter tree'. Since the two protagonists symbolize people who were meant for each other, the love-letter tree is supposed to portray such deep bonds. Such fateful bonds exist between lovers, married couples, family members, friends, and even fellow actors. People were able to send in their love-letters, hoping that their personal message would make it onto the tree.

Okada read out one letter that is directed to someone's sweetheart, "Recently I've discovered how important ordinary things can be. I hope we will be able to be together and feel comfortable around each other."

The two of them were asked, whether they have already written or received a love-letter themselves.

Okada replied, "I haven't yet really received a love-letter, but it's all the fan-letters that cheer me up every time I read them."

Eikura nodded and said, "I'm always reading fan-letters when I'm on the move. I try to read them all."

At the end of the event, Okada suddenly pulled out a snow globe with a ferris wheel similar to the one you can see in the movie and gave it to Eikura as an early Christmas present, since the love-letter tree kind of resembled a fully decorated Christmas tree.

The two of them have filmed together for this movie back in February, and since then, have attended various events and film festivals to promote it. Now the promotion is slowly going to come to an end, as the movie is finally going to open in Japan on November 18th.

He said to her, "All this time, you've really helped me out a lot. I'm glad we were able to do this together and I hope that we will meet each other again for another production. Thank you very much."

Eikura was taken aback by this surprise and started to cry, "My feelings towards this movie have been really strong, but you can't deliver 100% of its message by yourself. I'm glad that we both put all of our efforts into this together." She wiped away her tears, "Ah, this is embarrassing! But I'm happy. Thank you."

If you haven't done it yet, you should check out the trailer for "Antoki no Inochi" below! It also features the movie's theme song, "Koibumi ~Love Letter~" by GReeeeN.
