In Shogakukan's "Monthly Flowers" it was announced that Kodama Yuki's manga "Sakamichi no Apollo" will get an animation adaptation on Fuji TV. The show will be shown on the 'noitaminA' midnight programming block and start in April of 2012.
The story follows the life of Nishimi Kaoru who moves from city to city because of his father's job. Although he has always moved from school to school, in this new city, his first day seems to be different as he befriend's the class president Mukae Ritsuko and delinquent student Kawabuchi Sentaro. What all three have in common strangely enough is jazz music.
The manga debuted in "Monthly Flowers" in November 2007. It has seven volumes and also won the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" award in 2009.
