It's been reported that rock band Remioromen vocalist Fujimaki Ryota will be making his solo debut on February 29th with his first single, "Hikari wo Atsumete".
After the Tohoku Earthquake, Fujimaki had participated in volunteer work, distributing food in disaster-stricken areas. At the shelters in those areas, he was asked to sing, and was able to face music in a new way. Fujimaki revealed, "In spring of our 11th year, along with the great impact of the disasters, 2011 has been a year where I thought deeply about music. And that, brought an awakening of self-awareness as one singer-songwriter."
He continued, "There's a view of the world that can only be expressed as a band, and there is a view of the world that can only be expressed as a soloist. We each want to be affected by good influences, and climb to greater heights in music." Regarding the band, Fujimaki commented, "I'm going to have you wait for our activities as a band, but with the feeling of gratitude for everyone in my heart, I want to take my first step with my solo activities."
"Hikari wo Atsumete" will be available for download starting January 12th. The artist proceeds will be used for recovery for the disaster-stricken areas through "ap bank Fund for Japan".
