Nikkan Sports recently revealed the winners for the "24th Nikkan Sports Movie Grand Prix / Ishihara Yuujirou Award".

Japan's oldest movie director, Shindo Kaneto (99), received 'Best Picture' and 'Best Director' for his final movie, "Ichimai no Hagaki". He received the news with joy and commented with a smile, "They really must think that this will be my last work, and that's why I received this award. Still, I'd like to thank all of the judges."

The award for 'Best Actor' went to Matsuyama Kenichi for his performances in "Norwegian Wood", "GANTZ", and other well-received movies this year. The former already opened in last December and screened at various festival before that. He commented, "It didn't get any awards last year, so I thought that it wasn't getting acknowledged at all. I'm happy now, especially since I'm not receiving that many awards in general. It's encouraging and feels like a reward (for your hard work)."

Actress Miyazaki Aoi was elected as 'Best Actress' by the judges this year, especially for her splendid performance in "Tsure ga Utsu ni Narimashite.".

'Best New Actor/Actress' went to Inoue Mao, who is gradually creating a name for herself in the world of movies. This year, she gained much recognition for her performances in "Oba: The Last Samurai" and "Youkame no Semi".

The official award ceremony will be held on December 28th. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite movie until December 13th. The movie with the most votes will receive the 'Fan Award' at the ceremony.
