On January 10th, charismatic model and Harajuku idol Kyary Pamyu Pamyu held a special release event for her first single "Tsukema Tsukeru" at Laforet Harajuku.

On a stage in front of the building that was specially installed for the event, Kyary performed her newest song "Tsukema Tsukeru" and held a talk with the host of the event. In spite of the fact that the event had only been announced a few days before, approximately 300 men and women alike gathered to cheer her on.

For Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who debuted with the mini-album "Moshi Moshi Harajuku", the town is one she's able to call her home. "I had this opportunity because someone called out to me next to the GAP there (Jinguumae) and my snapshot appeared in the magazine 'KERA', so I'm incredibly happy to be able to have a live this way in the town I love," responded Kyary when asked about Harajuku, deeply moved by her good fortune.



Kyary's fashion during the event was a flashy, arranged kimono, mixing traditional Japanese style with Harajuku style. According to Kyary, the theme of her outfit was "Let's enjoy Japan more". "It's a kimono, but to adopt some Harajuku-ness I put a long tee underneath and rubber soles under my feet," she replied, explaining some of the key points about her outfit. The ensemble also included kagamimochi in her hair, as well as shimenawa. "It's got a New Year's feel to it!" she exclaimed with a satisfied smile on her face.

During an on-the-spot interview with the press following the event, the rising star alluded to her new song "Tsukema Tsukeru". "I was texting my producer Nakata Yasutaka-san, and when I said, 'Recently I've been addicted to tsukema tsukeru (putting on falsies), Nakata-san texted me back, 'Tsukema Tsukeru' has a great ring to it.'," she explained. "When I went to record the next day, we made this song. It's a miraculous song that was born out of something as trifling as that!"

Additionally, Kyary - who will be celebrating her nineteenth birthday on January 29th - also declared her goal for this year. "I think I'd like to spend my last year as a teenager absurdly gaudily. I want to get a topknot or something!" she proclaimed. Immediately following this statement, however, she followed up with, "But I'd have to shave the sides [of my head], so I wonder if I'll have to have a discussion with my management about it...", cutely racking her brains over her problem.
