Singer-songwriter Angela Aki has announced through her official Facebook page that she has given birth to her first child!

According to the announcement, Angela gave birth to a healthy baby boy on February 17th. "I'm very excited about the beginning of this new life," said Angela.

As for her career, the singer assured, "I'm scheduled to hold a tour this year, I'm looking forward to meeting everybody with even more power."

Angela had revealed to her fans in September of 2011 that she was five months pregnant through her official blog. After holding her annual concert on December 26th at the Nippon Budokan, she performed in the 62nd Kohaku Uta Gassen as her final stage before maternity leave.

It was also announced that Angela's program on NHK, titled "Angela Aki's SONG BOOK in ENGLISH", will begin its reruns starting February 25th.
