AKB48's Itano Tomomi was recently absent from the group's handshake events, held at Tokyo Big Sight on April 7th and 8th, due to poor health. The following day, the idol updated her official blog to explain her condition and apologize to fans.

In a blog entry titled "To Everyone", Itano reported, "I had a fever from the 6th, and I got an infusion done at the hospital. But it wasn't very effective; my tonsils were swollen and I had a high fever, so I had to take a rest for 3 days."

She continued by explaining her current situation. "My fever has finally come down. But a mouth ulcer? Something like that has formed in my throat and mouth. Right now, it hurts to eat and drink. I'm fighting myself."

Itano also apologized to her fans saying, "I'm sorry I have troubled everyone. Especially to everyone who came to the handshake events yesterday and the day before. I'm very sorry."

She ended the message with, "It's only a little at a time, but I'm heading towards recovery. I'm really sorry to have worried you... I want to meet everyone soon."

On April 5th and 6th, Itano informed worried fans of her ill health with a Twitter post that said, "I got a vaccination in my left shoulder yesterday, it hurts. I'm also feverish. Do vaccinations give these kind of symptoms?" and "I got a fever. It's painful".
