On May 23rd, JASRAC (Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers, and Publishers) announced the results of the '2012 JASRAC Awards'!

The annual award is presented to owners of the works that received the largest amount of royalty distribution throughout the year. The Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards are given in order to the top 3 domestic works.

This year, idol group AKB48 claimed all 3 awards: Gold, Silver, and Bronze! They acquired Gold with "Heavy Rotation", Silver with "Ponytail to Shushu", and Bronze with "Beginner". The group has become the first artist in history to take all 3 awards.

Not only that, they also claimed the 4th and 6th place awards with "Everyday, Kachuusha" and "Aitakatta". Producer Akimoto Yasushi, who is in charge of the songs' lyrics, won the triple awards as well. This marks the first time since Komuro Tetsuya last achieved this�back in 1996.
