On May 18th, it was announced that Miyazaki Aoi and Mukai Osamu are going to co-star together for the first time in Hiroki Ryuichi's upcoming movie 'Kiiroi Zou'.

The movie is based on a popular novel of the same name by Nishi Kanako and focuses on the life of a married couple who simply refer to each other as "Muko-san" and "Tsuma". Miyazaki plays Tsumari Aiko, a very innocent yet very loving wife of an unsuccessful writer called Muko Ayumu (Mukai). They both live a quite and happy life, until one certain letter addressed to Muko disturbs the idyll.

Miyazaki commented, "I've always wanted to play Tsuma from this novel." Ahead of the filming, which took place in the Mie prefecture until May 11th. Miyazaki suggested that she should cut her bangs for the role and the director didn't oppose the idea. Miyazaki revealed the feeling at that moment, "When I got my bangs cut, I just thought to myself, 'Ah, now I've become Tsuma'."

Mukai is said to share Miyazaki's love for the novel and saw the character of Muko as a very tolerant person when he read through it for the first time. "I wondered how I should act in order to give off the same impression," he commented. "How should he interact with Tsuma? I tried to focus on his calm movements, his gaze, and the distance between them in order to create this image."

About the interaction between each other, Miyazaki stated, "He's easy to talk to and always knows what to say. I was able to be at rest thanks to him. I think we were able to accurately recreate the relationship and the feelings between Tsuma and Muko."

Director Hiroki praised his two starring actors and said, "We were able to stay very close to the original and the two of them performed the feelings of Tsuma and Muko very realistically."

'Kiiroi Zou' is scheduled for a release in 2013.
