On May 14th, Namba, Osaka-based idol group NMB48s 4th single Nagiichi ranked 2nd on the Oricon Weekly Single Ranking Chart for the week of May 21st. Since their debut in July of last year, this is their fourth consecutive single that has not been able to grab 1st place on the first week sales charts.
In 1st place was Arashis Face Down, which sold 526,000 copies. On May 12th, NMB48 also trailed Arashi on the daily chart, but their single sold a record 376,000 copies in the first week of release. It's been the first time in 10 years and 10 months that a single ranked 2nd (for the first week sales) sold more than 300,000 copies, after GLAYs STAY TUNED, which was released back in July of 2001.
