On May 21, it was announced V6's member Okada Junichi will star in 'Eien no Zero', which is a movie adaptation of a popular novel by Hyakuta Naoki. He will play the role of Miyabe Kyuzo who was a Kamikaze pilot (special attack corps).

Film director Yamazaki Takashi, who is famous for the movie series 'ALWAYS San-chome no Yuhi' will direct this war film. It will be Okada's first time to star in a war film, and he is planning to wear a close-cropped hairstyle for the role. He's also looking forward to start filming in June with co-stars Inoue Mao and Miura Haruma.

The Hyakuta novel debuted back in 2006, and sold over a million copies. It's regularly ranked at the top of the best sellers list, and has gained popularity from a wide range of readers, aged from their 20s to seniors.

'Eien no Zero' tells the story of Saeki Kentaro(Miura), who continues to fail the National Bar Examinations and lose sight of the goal of his life, and his old sister Keiko, who is a freelance writer looking up their grandfather Miyabe (Okada) who died in the Pacific War as a Kamikaze pilot. Miyabe had an astute ability as a pilot of fighter planes, but he was extraordinarily afraid of death. His two grandchildren started wondering why he applied for the Kamikaze corps. Revealing Miyabe's  unexpected title of "genius yet coward", they unveil a surprising fact which has been sealed for over 60 years.

Okada is pursuing the reality of the original story by doing military training and listening to stories from Kamikaze pilot survivors. He stated, "I am really looking forward to filming. As an adaptation of the best-selling novel, I'll do my best so I won't let the novel fans down. Also, I want to make everyone who never experienced a war to feel something from my role [as Miyabe Kyuzo], who strove to live a life for his family."

Miura stated, "I want to play my role sincerely and seriously in order to make a generation who doesn't know eal war to feel a message of 'Eien no Zero'!!" Inoue, who has experience starring in a war film, commented, "I want everyone to know the truth and love, which should be handed down from generation to generation. I would like to be a part of that role [to hand the story from generation to generation] by playing Miyabe's wife Matsuno, who lived her life to believe the promise [she made to] her husband."

According to distribution company Toho, they will film at locations in Amami-Oshima, Chiba, Ibaraki and other places for 3 months starting in June.

'Eien no Zero' is scheduled to release sometime in spring 2013.
